Style tips from a former Navy Officer

If you know me, you probably know that before launching my brand Massimo Roma, I spent 17+ years in the Italian Navy. During this time I cultivated an obsession with “perfection” that’s in place every time I create a new custom-tailored garment.
Today I want to share 5 style inspirations that I developed while working as an officer in the Italian Navy:
1 – Attention-to-details:
The devil is in the details when it comes to military style.
Make sure to pay close attention to small details and accessories such as, handkerchiefs, button colour, pocket designs, etc. These are the details that make or break a look.
2 – Invest in timeless, high-quality clothes:
Military style is all about keeping it simple and avoiding anything that is out of the ordinary. Stick to the basics and fit it to perfection.
Custom Tailored white shirt – Dark Grey (or Blue Navy) Suit. Black Oxford Shoes are the PERFECT accompaniment to always look classy and command respect wherever you go. Dark Brown will also work for most outfits.
3 – Accessorize strategically:
Think about what will best complement the outfit you’re wearing and add a touch of your own personality.
Choose quality items that can be mixed and matched easily and that will enhance the overall look.
A few key accessories like a watch, cufflinks, hat, scarf, or even a pocket square can take your outfit to the next level.
4 – Wear High Quality Shoes:
A good shoe can make or break an outfit.
Match the color of your shoes to the color of your belt for a pulled-together look.
Two of the most stylish and versatile shoes are (1) Black or Dark Brown Wingtips and (2) Monk Straps.
These types of shoes make it easy to dress your outfit up or down.
5 – Neutral Colours Are KING:
White, Gray, Black and Beige.
These are timeless neutral colours that are versatile and easy to combine with other colors. And the best part? They never go out of style.
